Dangers Of Backstreet Botox

With the constant growth and popularity of Botox treatment in the country comes the budding of backstreet reports of the said skin rejuvenation procedure. In fact, several people are actually giving their support to backstreet Botox treatments.

But what’s the difference between the certified and the unlicensed one? Though Botox is a neurotoxin able to reduce facial wrinkles, inappropriate and too much use can cause severe and damaging effects to the patient. Take for example this actual unfortunate and unsuccessful Botox procedure.

What Made It Harmful?

Bonnie, like any other women who have already produced facial wrinkles, wanted to undergo a Botox treatment. A lot of people and even celebrities are going through this non-surgical method so she thought it would work the same for her.

Hence, she instantly made an appointment in a private clinic for some batch of injections. Little did she know that the doctor who made the procedure is an osteopath and not actually a dermatologist. And worse, the botulinum toxin that was injected to her was a different type which used only for laboratory research and not for human use.

According to doctors, the amount of botulinum toxins in her body collected is approximately 2,500 times more lethal if introduced into the bloodstream. Moreover, not only Bonnie was admitted to the hospital. It appears that even the practitioner who did the treatment to her was also one of the four patients who have received the 100 microgram vial of pure botulinum A, the other two being Bonnie’s husband and the girlfriend of the said practitioner.

It was also found out that the culprit had managed to work at the clinic albeit having a cancelled medical license.

What Are The Risks And Consequences?

The results were very terrible. Only 36 hours following the treatment, Bonnie began to have breathing problems and difficulties. She became so weak and couldn’t even walk. As the toxin spread inside her body, her nerves were injured and damaged. Her entire body was paralyzed after a few hours.

The four patients showed signs of extreme exhaustion and neurological issues and were provided with an antidote. Their breathing had to be facilitated by a ventilator. After enduring months in the hospital and being incapable of speaking, Bonnie can finally move around through a wheelchair. However, doctors reported that there is a low possibility of complete recovery and it could most likely take several years.

The authorities are concerned that the negligence could also be an issue to other people at the very moment. Doctors put the blame on the careless parameters about the authorization of the treatment procedure. Furthermore, the perpetrator of the criminal offence has been sentenced with 3 years of imprisonment.
